Jean-Bernard Marie was born in Vacoas. Mauritius. He was a student at the Conservatorium High School (Sydney) before furthering studies in France and England.
In Paris he worked with Venstislav Yankoff. Vlado Parlemutter. Olivier Messiaen and Charles Rosen. and was awarded the “Premier Prix” in chamber music (1988) and piano( (1989) at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Paris.
Subsequently, he left for England, working with Geoffrey Parsons and Yonty Solomon. Jean-Bernard has performed extensively for Radio France. BBC Radio. French-Television and Bavarian Radio. He was chosen to perform in the Park Lane Group-20th century series at London’s Purcell Room and also for the Ensemble intercontemporain in Paris.
Premiers include works by Robert Sherlaw Johnson. Jan Novak. Edmund Campion. Kaikoshru Sorabji. Carlos Roquez Alsina and George Lewtz. Jean-Bernard has recently returned from a tour to Vienna (the Bienniale). Paris and London.
