Web Standards
AJC Web Design and Training follows the published standards of XHTML and CSS from the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). The pages designed by AJC Web Design and Training are validated by W3C. This means that coding used websites has been identified as "XHTML 1.0 Transitional" and that W3C has successfully performed a formal validation using an SGML or XML Parser (depending on the markup language used).

By meeting these standards, sites designed by AJC Web Design and Training will continue to function properly as traditional desktop browsers evolve, as well as when new Internet devices come to market

Web Design Principles
AJC Web Design and Training follows the following web design principles in the construction of sites for its customers.

Content:

  • Use of simple language, correct grammar and spelling.
  • Language appropriate for the audience.
  • Distinct identification appears on each page.
  • Professional style - mostly in textual form with little use of graphic.
  • Graphics are original and in jpg image format.
  • Font colours limited to three.
  • Site identification on each page.
  • Consistent heading for easier page identification.
  • Copyright rules observed throughout the site.

Accessibility:

  • Text is legible with appropriate size, color, and font.
  • Site can be viewed on both Mac and Windows using common browsers such as Netscape and Explorer.
  • Simple design to accommodate technology with low bandwidth.
  • Graphics include alternative text (ie "alt" tag).

Page Design:

  • Consistent design, backgrounds and colour scheme used in all pages.
  • Site navigation used on each page.
  • Footer provided on each page.
  • Page designed to cater for screen resolution of 800px by 600px.
  • Where possible, content carefully organised to ensure limited scrolling.
  • Design kept simple so that it can easily be updated. Frames are not used within the website.

Web Accessibility

Measures taken to ensure accessibility are as follows:

  • An alternative text is included for all images, graphical representations of text (including symbols) and image map.
  • The simplest form of language, appropriate for the content, is used throughout their site.
  • Care is taken to ensure that foreground and background color combinations provide sufficient contrast when viewed by someone having color deficits or when viewed on a black and white screen.
  • A site map is included to provide a general layout of a site.
  • Navigation mechanisms are used in a consistent manner throughout the site.
  • The published standards of XHTML and CSS from the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) are followed in constructing the site.
